Wu Bai进行了一系列详尽的手术体检:她检查了是否有肿瘤或包块、嗅探是否有狐臭或鼻炎气味;然后she examined the shape and depth of her navel, the width of her shoulders, waistline, arm elasticity, skin color and length of legs, hand size and fingers as well as foot arches and toe colors. Finally she conducted a gynecological examination and asked about any medical history.
Afterwards, Wu Bai re-examined her five senses including hair density and color; checked her ears, teeth, nose bridge, eyes brows. At last she asked Yang Fei to shout "Long live" three times to test her vocal cords' function.
In June 147 AD (the first year of Emperor Huan's Jianhe period), Yang Fei officially entered the palace; in August she was formally crowned Empress. This might be one of the earliest recorded examples in Chinese history where an empress underwent pre-marital health check-ups.
