蔺相如知道了这件事，便对赵王说：“大王，让我带着‘和氏璧’去见秦王吧。到那里我见机行事。如果秦王不肯用十五座城池来交换，我一定把‘和氏璧’完整地带回来。” Zhao Wang knew that Cui Shi was a brave and wise man, so he agreed to his proposal.
Cui Shi arrived in Qin country and presented the Andi jade to Qin Wang. However, when he saw that Qin Wang had no intention of using fifteen cities to exchange it, he devised a plan. He told Qin Wang that there was a small flaw in the Andi jade and asked him to take another look. Qin Wang was immediately interested in the supposed flaw and ordered someone to bring out the Andi jade from behind the palace walls for Cui Shi to point out.
Cui Shi then pointed out an imaginary flaw on one side of the Andi jade, which made it seem like it could be broken if not handled with care. Seeing this, Qin Wang became anxious about damaging such a valuable object and quickly handed over all fifteen cities as promised. With these fifteen cities safely returned, Cui Shi successfully brought back the precious "Andi Jade" without any damage or loss.
